Parfois les images sont de « vraies » photographies puisées dans des archives, d’autres fois elles sont générées par IA puis redessinées ou réalisées en photogravure. Que regarde-t-on : document photographique ou imaginaire de synthèse ? Le passé et ses archives ressemblent à s’y méprendre aux pires prévisions que nous pourrions avoir du futur.

In the form of a graphic novel depicting profit-hungry traders, the history of our images is woven together with that of energy. Sometimes the images are “real” photographs taken from archives, other times they are generated by AI and then redrawn or produced using photoengraving. What are we looking at: photographic documents or synthetic imagery? The past and its archives bear a striking resemblance to the worst predictions we could have about the future.
